The Chalet Rooms are the reason people fall for the Shanag house. Each is a warm timber room inside a wooden chalet set out on the open orchard lawns, with a big window that frames the apple trees in front and the snow line beyond. Wake up, open the curtain, and the mountains are right there.
Shanag sits higher up the valley than our Badgran home, four to five kilometres north of Manali toward Old Manali and Solang, so it's closer to the snow in winter and to the cafés and the Solang road the rest of the year. The chalet keeps you a step out on the lawns rather than in a corridor — quiet, private, pet-friendly, with the orchard for a front garden.
It's a proper king bed in warm pine, made for the cold with layered quilts, and the kind of room that makes a honeymoon or an anniversary feel like an occasion without any of us having to try too hard.

A short drive. Shanag is north of Manali toward Bahang and Old Manali, so the Old Manali cafés, Manu Temple and the Solang road are all close, while the chalet itself stays quiet and orchard-wrapped.
